If you have a second-in-command (secondary alpha, ruling partner, etc) played by someone else, they will only be expected to cover half of the check's posts, ensuring that they aren't carrying a heavy load while you get things in your real life in order, go on your honeymoon, say goodbye to a loved one, etc.

Have they died of old age? Were they kidnapped? This is a good play to iron out those details so other players know how to react IC if their characters are involved with yours.
